Kate Lavender Annesley

Kate is a Nature fairy. She is the best friend of Mary and Peter's wife. She is from the Earth and student of the Laguna University for Specialists and Fairies. She chose to give up the career path as a fairy and became a part-time baker and a housewife  after she graduated.  She is the heroine of this story (teen film side).

1. Appearance

Kate is a tan-skinned girl with blue eyes. She has black straight hair that covers her shoulders. She is usually perceived as ordinary. She usually wears T-shirt and jeans.

2. Personality

Kate is very gentle, caring and humble girl who loves staying with friends and family. Due to her kind and gentle nature, she hates fighting. Therefore, she usually uses defensive approach instead of attack. She usually got good marks in the subjects which not involved fighting since she was very diligent.

As Kate was denied by her parents frequently, she had low self-esteem and difficulties in believing herself. When Kate was little, she was tested by her grandfather and discovered that she is Weak-blooded. She tried to use her power as she wanted to be praised by her parents, just like her sister Rune. However, Kate could never use her power, which upset her.

Kate is very kind. Although her parents and sister did not treat her well, she still loves them and blames herself instead. She started to value her opinion after she made the promise with Peter. She insisted to be a baker although she knew her parents would not like the job.

3. Ability

Kate is a Weak-blooded Nature fairy. She can control plants and pollen. She can also cure plants and help them to grow. Although animal manipulation is one of the abilities of Nature fairy, she never uses that power successfully. As Kate has nature-based power, if she is surrounded by nature, she can maintain her strength easier. In the battle, she prefers using vines to hold the enemies and protect, or uses pollen to force enemies asleep.

Kate learnt Water in Year 3 but she had very weak ability in summoning water. She is talented in Potion making and herbology. She studied Herbology & Agriculture as one of the elective subjects in Year 4 and acquired the Potion-maker, Herbolist and Certificate before she graduates.

4. Series

Childhood

Kate was born in the Earth. Her parents were Elitism. They expected Kate to be the top. However, Kate's appearance made them disappointed. They then put high expectation on her grades. Although Kate usually got high marks in every subject, she never did something ‘extraordinary’: they expected her to be the champion in a national competition, very famous or scoring genius mark in intelligence test.

One day, when her parents were preparing for a relative's party, they realized Kate had nothing to show off. They started to panic as they were always the winner among relatives. They blamed Kate and Kate cried. At this time, they saw Rune using her power and believed Rune extraordinary. So, they adopted her. Rune showed her power in the party. Kate's grandfather believed Rune was at least strong-blooded, which surprised the whole family, since the Annesley’s family had lost the fairy/vampire blood so long.

Kate became invisible in the family. Her parents put all of their expectations on Rune, and Rune satisfied them. Although Kate was very upset and nearly gave herself up, she still loved her parents and adopted sister.

Kate loved her 2^nd cousin Peter in childhood as he had been nice to her. However, she had not seen Peter after 12. She asked her parents, but no one knew the reason.

Pre-series

Before she graduated, the principal came and invited her to the Laguna University for Vampires and Fairies.

Year 1

Kate got into Laguna and shared a dorm suite with Rune, Akari and Mary. She shared a room with Mary. On the school opening ceremony, everyone needed to verify their attributes and bloodline using the Stone Circle. Kate verified she is a Weak-blooded nature fairy. She saw Peter standing in the Year 2 corner. She found him after the ceremony and discovered Peter had changed a lot.

Kate joined the Cooking Club as she wanted to send Peter some treats, just like what he had done when they were children. However, she never found Peter and was very upset about that. Akari told Kate Peter never attended his lessons.

In the middle of the semester 1, Rune and Akari become fond of battle and fighting club. They usually left Kate behind as they disliked Kate's performance in a fight. Kate felt so lonely and upset about this. Mary then brought Kate to many parties so as to cheer her up. In a party, Kate saw Peter taking drugs with his friends. She was very shocked and threw his drug away, making Peter beat her.

Mary was furious as Kate was injured and told the teachers, resulting in Peter was suspended for half a year. Peter apologized to Kate. Kate told him she never wanted him suspended. Peter claimed he was very sorry, but he was happy about the suspension. He told Kate that he never liked the school.

Before the school picnic, Mary became acquainted with her roommates, Theodore and Nex since they formed a group in the picnic.

Kate with her roommates, Theodore and Nex stood out for Rune when schoolmates and teachers believed that the Ancient Armies and the Burned Ones were summoned by Rune.
